Revived Hope For Bamenda Municipal Stadium

Fresh hope has returned to the minds of the people of the North West region, after the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT Head of Missions visited the region.

On February 13, FECAFOOT president, Samuel Eto'o sent his Head of Missions, Emmanuel Maboang Kessack to Bamenda to look into the stadium issue and access the Municipal stadium to see the situation.

After spending about 30 minutes at the Bamenda Municipal stadium, Maboang Kessack assured the population that a befitting stadium will be constructed in no time.

"The principal reason for me here is to access the situation and make sure that a stadium is constructed here in no time," Maboang Kessack said

The FECAFOOT's Head of Missions who also visited the Saint Paul field at Mile 3 Nkwen where the Bamenda preseason solidarity tournament is going on could not believe what his eyes saw.

"I don't believe that we are one of the best in Africa when it comes to football and North West that gives a lot doesn't have a field. I am going back to Yaounde with a broken heart and I am sure that in five to six months we will have a synthetic field here," Maboang added

The former Indomitable Lion who was team captain in the days of Roger Miller also revealed that Samuel Eto'o is planning to construct another stadium in the region.

"He has a program to build another stadium out of this. But this one must be completed first," he said

"I played here about 35 years ago with legendary players like Ben Bola, even the National team of Cameroon played here in the North West selection. Today the surprising situation just makes me to cry," the Head of Missions added

Accompanied by the North West FECAFOOT delegation and headed by president, Mbigha Njah Felix, the North West boss also applauded the move and pledged his maximum support for the contract.

"I want to plead with the stakeholders of Cameroon to prove the special status that they talk about in this stadium and let the region have a stadium. It is a long cry that we have been crying," Mbigha Felix said

The North West FECAFOOT boss added that president Samuel Eto'o assured him that he is ready to do everything for a befitting stadium to be constructed in the region in as much as the state permits him.

Maboang Kessack also visited the region to do final touches as concerns the new football season and to make sure that the regional has an office in Bamenda.

The North West region with a total of five elite clubs, three division one and two division two clubs have been playing and training in the dusts and mud for over five years without a befitting stadium.
