"Keep your fire burning, never stop giving us information because we depend on you," JATO Sonita said in one of her performance

JATO is a form 4 student of CCAST Bambili. She has performed on the same stage with artists like Fally Ipupa and several Cameroonian artists

Celebration of the 29th anniversary of world press freedom day took place in Bamenda under associations like Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists North West, CAMASEJ and Cameroon Journalist's Trade Union.

Emphasizing on the 2022 world press freedom day theme "Journalism under digital siege," CAMASEJ North West president, Ndi Tsembom Elvis encouraged his colleagues to be more ethical, as they continue doing their job.

"On this occasion of the world press freedom day, i wish to encourage journalists covering the Anglophone crisis to stay on the part of safety and rule of the law. I carefully chose this because a good number of journalists have questioned the Anti Terrorism Law which doesn't give a voice to the other party involved in the conflict," Ndi Tsembom said in his speech

The CAMASEJ North West chapter president also regretted the advent of social media, which is a huge problem to the noble profession, as everyone tries to break the news on social media.

"The advent of social media has transformed everyone into a journalist. They are eager to break the news without respecting the canons of news gathering. This has given rise several bloggers and the number continue to surge everyday" Ndi Tsembom added

Present during the occasion were journalism students from the university of Bamenda and the National Higher Polytechnic Institute of Bambui who were invited to witness and celebrate together with their senior colleagues in the region.

The occasion in Bamenda was also graced by the Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital, Doctor Nsame Denis who expressed satisfaction concerning the link between the media and health sector in the region.

Dr Nsame Denis revealed that no COVID patient is present at the moment in the hospital and no confirm case of Cholera has been recorded so far in the entire region.

He called on the journalists to continue doing their job by sensitizing the population about the free vaccination and free testing for the pandemic that is going on.
