Hariet Yuri, Changing The Narratives Of Entertainment In Bamenda

Artists management is very important in his/her growth at the starting level from branding to building. Art alone is important, but not really enough to bring the artist to financial stability

That is why since 2011, Black Swagger Inc, headed by Hariet Yuri has been trying to change the narratives in Bamenda by building some artists and film makers to succeed 

Before setting up Black Swagger Inc in 2011, the management discovered that artists in Bamenda and Cameroon were concentrating mostly on their talent and didn't invest in the management and business aspects of their arts    
Hariet is holder of MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Bamenda. She has many years of professional experience in the entertainment industry and also in the banking sector

The multi-talented lady is also the treasurer at the federation guilt of the North West region under the delegation of Arts and Culture and a YALI Alumni

Black Swagger Inc is an entertainment company, where artists, film makers, comedians usually come up with their projects, songs and films, they work on and realized them to be at the standard level

Together with her team at Black Swagger Inc, Hariet offer services like projects management, artist consultancy, marketing strategies in films, advocacy videos and many others

Film Forum is a project under Black Swagger where they come together with film professionals and discuss about the film business in Bamenda and Cameroon at large

The project, Film Forum also helps them talk about the technicalities of films, how to improve on film production in Bamenda and Cameroon as a whole. The project has drilled many film makers, managers, artists on how to carve a nitch and move on smoothly in their professional carrier

"We invite them to come talk about an aspect in the entertainment and how we can better the situation. We have worked with many young artists, actors in the region," Hariet Yuri said

Black Swagger also have a musical stage play. It is usually a monthly Poetry and music program called Black Swagger Slam, where local artists, poets come and present pieces of their work in front of an audience

They have also worked on programs like Black Swagger Poetic, which have a great impact on the entertainment industry in Cameroon 

Black Swagger Poetry team is planning to have another program in February 2023, which will center on how to counter hate speech in the society. 

One of Black Swaggers most established and renounce actor is Vugar Samson, who is popularly known as 'Grandpa'. He usually play a vital role and has featured in many films in Cameroon

Their aim is to completely change the narratives by assisting artists, film makers, artist mangers, actors, comedians to upgrade and change the entertainment industry in Cameroon and the world at large

JATO Sonita Spices Press Freedom Day In Bamenda

JATO Sonita with the Forest Kids spiced the day with beautiful performance and Afro Njang songs at the Ayaba hotel. The kids kept journalists on their fits from start to finish of the event with pure traditional music. The talented fast rising Afro artist used her charming voice and crafted beautiful and meaningful songs to the journalists who convened to celebrate and enjoy their works. Mount Cameroon Race: Lady Dies From Explosion Wounds

At least one victim of the Buea explosions, which occurred during the 2023 edition of the Mount Cameroon race of hope is dead. Family sources in Buea have confirmed that Linda Nji died at the Buea regional hospital early Tuesday February 28, 2023. The victim was injured together with her three children in one amongst the three explosions that occurred few minutes into the race on Saturday. "They stood outside watching the race at Bunduma where an explosive went off and injured all of them," a source said. They were later on rushed to the Buea regional hospital, where they have been receiving treatment until Tuesday morning at about 4am when the later died. Report say she died in the presence of her husband and her remains were conveyed to the hospital mortuary, pending burial.
