AFCON2021: Cameroon Qualifies For Knockout Stage

Cameroon is the first team to qualify for the knockout stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

The Indomitable Lions have proved right of hosting the tournament, after winning their first and second matches at the Olembe stadium in Yaounde.

A brace from Aboubakar Vincent and Karl Toko Ekambi have pushed the Indomitable Lions to the next stage, though they still have one more match on Monday 17.

The Antelopes of Ethiopia opened the score at the 4th minute, with a beautiful goal from Dawa Hutessa.

But the unbeatable Lions of Cameroon equalized at the 8th minute with a beautiful header from Karl Toko Ekambi, with assistance from Fai Collins Ngoran.

The first segment ended 1-1 on both sides, but the Lions came in with double spirit during the second half, with captain Aboubakar scoring a leading goal at the 53 minute.

As the Antelopes of Ethiopia got confused, Aboubakar forced in another goal to set the scores at 3-1, and Karl Toko came fought to put the final scores at 4-1 in favor of Cameroon.

Karl Toko Ekambi was awarded man of the match, as Vincent Aboubakar tops the score with 4 goals in the tournament.

Thursday's defeat over Ethiopia has put Cameroon at the top of group A with 6 points and 6 goals.

The Lions will face Cape Verde on Monday 17 in their last group stage match.
